The Bradburd Family Foundation primarily focuses its support on local causes that positively impact their communities with an emphasis on organizations and causes valued by members of the family.
The Foundation was founded in 1998 by Arnold and Julia Bradburd to support those charitable organizations that were important to them and meaningful in how they lived their lives.
Upon their deaths in 2023, Arnold and Juia were succeeded by their children as Trustees of the Foundation who are continuing the work of supporting organizations that share their values and dedication to improving their communities.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How do I apply for a grant?
- The Foundation is not currently accepting applications. All grants are made in the discretion of the Trustees to charitable organizations they select. Grant decisions are made independently each year and are based on the Foundation’s priorities and available resources at the time.
Can I send you a request anyway?
- No. We do not accept unsolicited applications. If we make any change to our process, we will announce it here on our website.
I was awarded a grant by the Foundation, how do I acknowledge the grant?
- At the time of awarding the grant, the Trustees will send a letter with information about the grant including acceptance and reporting responsibilities. In general, the Trustees of the Foundation are not looking for special recognition or acknowledgement. Cashing the check will constitute acceptance of the award and no additional acknowledgement is required. If it is the organization’s practice to name donors in an annual report or in another public listing, the organization may include the Bradburd Family Foundation in the list, but no special treatment beyond that inclusion is required (or desired). In most cases however, the Trustees will ask the organization to attribute the grant to “Anonymous” in all public listings.
I was awarded a grant by the Foundation, what are my reporting responsibilities?
- At the time of awarding the grant, the Trustees will send a letter with information about the grant including acceptance and reporting responsibilities. In general, the Trustees do not require reports from grantees. If the grant was for a specific project, the Trustees may require a short report at the end of the grant describing how the funds were used and their impact. If the project extends beyond one year and funds remain unspent approximately a year after they were awarded, the Trustees may request a status report along with an updated timeframe for fully expending the funds.
I was awarded a grant by the Foundation, are there any restrictions on what the funds may be used for?
- Foundation funds must be used for charitable or educational purposes and cannot be used for lobbying or legislative activities. Beyond those restrictions, most grants can be applied to where the organization determines it will have the most impact, including allocating some or all of it to general support and operations. If a grant is restricted to a specific project or use, that information may be determined before the grant is made in conversations with the organization’s leaders. At the time of awarding the grant, the Trustees will include any restrictions in the grant letter.
Can I renew my grant?
- No. All grants (and renewals) are made in the discretion of the Trustees to charitable organizations they select. The receipt of a grant does not guarantee or imply any commitment to future funding or additional awards.
I still have questions. Who can I talk to?
- You can send an email with any questions to Grants at BradburdFamilyFoundation.org and someone will get back to you.
